TROUBLESHOOTING
This section
deals with frequently asked questions and answers and other things that
will help you if you are having a problem playing HoB.
PLEASE READ THESE FIRST IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. IF THEY DON'T SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM, THEN POST IN THE BUGS & TROUBLESHOOTING FORUM AT THE HEAT OF BATTLE WEBSITE. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF CALL OF DUTY INSTALLED.

Q: WHERE DO I
INSTALL HEAT OF BATTLE TO?
A: You
install it into ...Call of Duty\hobv3. DO NOT install it into your Call
of Duty\main folder or any other folder. IT MUST be in Call of Duty\hobv3
or else you will have all kinds of problems. If you have the Call of Duty
Game of the Year Edition, you must install CoD itself into ...\Call of
Duty. If you've installed it into a folder called ...\Call of Duty Game
of the Year Edition, there will be a lot of conflicts.
Q: HOW DO I ATTACH/DETACH THE BAYONET TO THE SVT40?
A: Press your Fire Rate key; the key that changes weapons from full-auto
to semi-auto.
Q: WHENEVER
I TRY TO PLAY HEAT OF BATTLE I GET THIS ERROR: "Missing WeaponFile
g43_mp.cfg Error."
A: Make sure you've installed Heat of Battle to ...Call
of Duty\hobv3.
Q: WHEN I GET SHOT I GET A REALLY LOW FRAME RATE, OR MY GAME FREEZES
FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS!
A: This happens to a rare group of gamers. This is a graphics card/driver
conflict. If you have an nVidia card that is pre-GeForce4 (including GeForce4MX's),
you should be using driver version 52.16, which you can get at http://www.nvidia.com.
This driver has fixed the shellshock lag for many players. If you have
an ATI card, your best bet is to check the forums
and ask what others have done.
Q: I HAVE MY CROSSHAIRS TURNED ON BUT I DON'T SEE ANY IN-GAME.
A: Crosshairs are disabled in Heat of Battle, even if you have
them turned on in the options they still won't show up in Heat of Battle
games.
Q: WHY
DO MY GRAPHICS SETTINGS RESET WHENEVER I JOIN A HEAT OF BATTLE GAME?
A: This
is a Call of Duty problem, what you want to do is start CoDMP.exe, set up
your controls, graphics settings, etc. Save and exit. This will save your
settings and use them when you start a mod.
Q: WHEN I CONNECT
TO A SERVER IT SAYS "MAP NOT FOUND" AND TRIES TO DOWNLOAD IT.
A: Bring down your console and type "/cl_allowdownload 0"
without quotes. Try again, if you still get the error you may actually need
the map. Swing by http://www.heatofbattle.net and you should find it.
Q: WILL I STILL
BE ABLE TO PLAY REGULAR COD MULTIPLAYER AFTER I INSTALL HOB?
A: Yes. Singleplayer and Multiplayer will work like they always have.
Q: WHEN I CONNECT
TO A SERVER IT SAYS "INVALID .PK3's REFERENCED" or "IMPURE
CLIENT DETECTED".
A: This can happen if you've altered any files in your HoB pk3's
and are trying to join a pure server.
Q: WHEN I CONNECT
TO A SERVER IT SAYS "CD KEY IS NOT VALID".
A: This problem was fixed with CoD v1.2. If you are getting it, update
to CoD v1.4
Q: WHY DO I RUN
AT THE SAME SPEED EVEN IF I HAVE MY PISTOL OR GRENADE OUT?
A: Pistol and grenade run speeds have been lowered so that you don't
see a significant speed boost by switching to them.
Q: DOES PUNKBUSTER
WORK WITH HEAT OF BATTLE?
A: Yes.
